Re: Best None-Subscription CAD Options
I'd look at Rhino 3d, it's affordable, non-subscription and with Grasshopper (visual / node based programming) you'll be able to do what you want with external data sources. Using Grasshopper for parametric CAD is distinctly different from FreeCAD (and pretty much everything else). If you are lookin...

Using Camera Views in Drawings
Is it possible to use a camera view directly in a drawing?
Current procedure is to setup the camera view and then 'save as' a PNG and then insert a picture.
Or is this a 'feature' in Visualize?

Why does the offset tool not allow you to use Global Equations during creation?
Once you green check the offset you can immediately double click the offset dim and change it to an Equation.

You can calc this by placing the point load in the worst case situation, which will be approximately between the 1/3 and 1/2 mark on the low side. Also, the rope stretch is going to be an issue. I would recommend looking into Galvanized Aircraft Cable, the stretch is very low, and the strength to we...

Add option to leave sketche(s) out of the feature that uses it/them. I plan my first several sketches out carefully and SW clobbers the intent order and buries them in features down the tree. This makes edits cumbersome as I often roll back to the sketch to edit it, but everything is out of order. ...
