Re: Excel PDM Spreadsheet Template for Product Data Management CAD file version control
I've only used pdm for tracking changes. An Excel file is simple and accessible, but also fallible as it means that everyone has to have an updated version AND add updates/changes. The latter can be difficult, even with something integrated like PDM. Assuming that entry between all parties could be ...

Maybe when the file was exported, 214 was selected, but the exporter labeled it at 203? From what I found, 214 is the same as 203+color+GD&T so it could be a simple nomenclature error.

I second the branch and merge option. If it's a blanket "don't show subassemblies" for a given design, I think when creating the BOM, you can choose "Parts only" to show no subassemblies but all the parts (can't recall off hand if that requires promotion or not). Then for instances where subassemblies are needed, you...

You will need to make new document templates to set default settings. i.e. open new part from template, change settings, set units, visibilities etc. and then Save As... that part document as .prtdot file type. You can do (or need to do) the same thing for your assembly document which would use .as...

This is a DB error. PDM doesn't know about in-context refs except what it can record in the DB tables on check-in. If I had to guess, a checked out parent assembly file was deleted and one of the tables is out of sync with this information, thus the move of the child file is trying to update that d...
