"C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS PDM\Search.exe" is pinned to Start and Task Bar. That's my gateway to vault as normal user. From there search for something, rest of navigation is ~95% where used and contains tabs. Whaaaat; search has it own executable file? That's so cool; th...

This is pretty much what I do. Current/ongoing project folders are shortcutted to a folder on the desktop, currently contains 8 separate ongoing project folder shortcuts. I'm fortunate I suppose in that I work alone. All files are stored on my machine locally. I keep all work related projects, (inc...

Should have clarified; windows folders I can drag; but anything PDM related is undraggable for me (Win 10 - PDM 2020).DanPihlaja wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 3:11 pm You CAN drag and drop the items in quick access to change the order. But you can't automatically sort as far as I know.

How is everyone managing their access to different folders/projects in PDM/explorer? I'm just attaching them to quick access? I've seen some people create shortcuts of folders then bring those shortcut on their desktop or some central location. I'm interested to see how you do it? image.png Thanks!

Hi JSculley That works, thanks! Seems like I can still use PDM generated CSV file (since the picture attached is how the output looks like for a sample assembly that has a part with two configurations) and then use the consolidate function there. Normally this wouldn't have been a big deal as I coul...

Part shows up grayed-out (with toolbox icons) in PDM ADD-IN for No Apparent Reason
Hello folks,
Any idea what is causing this?
Everything about them looks normal except that they show up like that in PDM Add-In and I can't check them out directly. When I open the part; I have the ability to check-out.
Thanks,

Thanks @SPerman. Actually I already thought about that; but I wasn't sure how I can take advantage of that through PDM?
I don't want to open the top level assembly in SW & create a BOM file with that settings (going to be very time consuming); was hoping to quickly get it through PDM.

I can't think of a specific tool to create this directly.
I would draw a 10mm circle sketch; two parallel lines (chords) 8.5mm apart; then trim away the unwanted portions. The parallel lines need to be symmetrical about the diameter.

No worries! Technically you were correct that it applies to all parts. The limitation is that there's not an easy way to permanently (i.e. save) apply that settings to all referenced components. Though describing it as a limitation may not be correct; since as mp3-250 said if there was such an optio...

Follow up question:
What would be your workflow then say if you have an assembly of 500 parts in PDM and you know there are some parts that have high image quality settings.
You would do a complete check-out on the root assembly then run the macro?
Thank you.
