Re: Applying updated templates to old documents
#task from Central Innovations can automate most of what you are asking for. It has built in features for some of it. It will also run a custom macro (or several) along all selected parts. @mp3-250 has done quite a bit of research documenting and understanding the document properties. He talks abou...

Re: Office 365 Compatability
I'm using 365 and am having no issues with design tables at all. Everything works as expected. The only issue that I ran into initially was that our IT department had installed 32-bit 365 apps on my PC for compatibility with some other systems and the 32-bit version does not work at all with Solidw...

Re: Multiple Config. Part fails to reload specific configuration
I have seen this in assemblies with multiple configurations when the part is patterned. Sometimes instances will change to some random config. Another thing that causes issues is the "Cofigure Part" dialog. Use this at your peril, I have found this to be very flakey and does not seem to wo...

Re: Equations when creating mates
I've customized the UI quite a bit, so I've made that button go away at some point. After further investigation, I do use instant 3d to edit sketch dimensions without editing the sketch. (At least I think that is an instant 3d function. The example they shown on the help site emphasises grabbing an...

Re: Vote to fix broken SW2024 "Enhancement"
Good luck, can't imagine Dassault would ever give an option for this kind of user interface behaviour - they never have before. The similar problem with the Property Manager where the completely useless drop down for selecting units blocks input boxes underneath for me is much more annoying and has ...

Re: SW-MASS problem
Not sure if this is relevant but my experience is that your custom property for the weight needs to be in the configuration tab. If you put in the custom tab it causes the error you are seeing. Also note that each config has it's own mass property and you need to use that specific property, not the ...

Alternative to using Equations
I have a large part with sweeps representing cables. I have 4 equations for critical dimensions used on all cables. I have 60+ cables and I have hit major performance slow down. This is due to having dimensions in the 3d sketch linked to equations. If I edit 3d sketch with dimensions linked to equat...

Re: Does a 32 inch monitor make sense for drawing?
We switched to 40" monitors about 3 years ago, I'm currently using 1x40", 24" in portrait and 24" touch screen. When we (Solidworks guys) got the 40" some people thought they would be too big but now 95% of all mech/elect/software engineers here have 40" or 42" (so...

Detailing Mode- yeah, nah
Just tried for the first time. Makes it much faster in large assy drawings.
But..If I quit out and come back in - every single reference for every single note or dimension added while in detailing mode is broken.
Not surprised of course.
Maybe give it another go in 4 or 5 years.

Add field to hole table template
Hi, I want to create a hole table template with <hw-descrp> added to the "Size" column. I can do this manually for each hole, but if I try and save the table as a template <hw-descrp> disappears from the column. What normally appears in the column: <MOD-DIAM> <hw-diam> <hw-thru> What I wan...

Re: Sheet Metal Flanges
I think the assumption is that if you are editing the sketch you are doing something beyond changing the length. Edge flanges feature can contain multiple flanges. Each can be edited to different length or even totally different shape. There is no way all this can be fed back to a single dimension i...
