Re: Looking for a 'Function Builder' How To
I'll just park these here. Might be useful. Found this 600 page pdf - Using the Adams/View Function Builder . . . via this video (starting at 14mins 50secs) >> https://youtu.be/rn4HVfPYq_U?t=889 Did he need to use this Adams/View software or could he have done the same thing using only SolidWorks ??

Re: Looking for a 'Function Builder' How To
Thanks all. So no online tutorials? Maybe someone has dedicated a chapter to it in some book? I've found this pdf >> https://www.solidworks.com/sw/docs/Motion_Sim_Student_WB_2011_ENG.pdf - and if you go to page 11 there's a bit about it. Hard to believe the feature has been around since 2011 and nob...

Looking for a 'Function Builder' How To
There seems to be very little info online regarding the use of the Function Builder in SolidWorks. Even the official help files don't help much >> http://help.solidworks.com/2021/english/SolidWorks/motionstudies/hidd_funbuilderdlg.htm ... as they don't offer any examples of its use. Can anyone point...

Re: Have any SolidWorks VARS started using the 3DSwym platform to communicate with their customers?
. . . I'd even go so far as to say that some of the functional problems we see are largely because the infrastructure of the platform is not meant to be used for groups of 100's or 1000's all leaving messages and attempting to communicate. Knock that number down to 10 people and maybe many of the &...

Re: Have any SolidWorks VARS started using the 3DSwym platform to communicate with their customers?
All the VAR's I've worked with, stayed far away from all the SolidWorks fora. They all had their own business plans, and probably ashamed of the advice and help they could give.😒 Thanks for your insights. But I'm thinking that Dassault can dictate who can and cannot sell their product. They could e...

Re: Have any SolidWorks VARS started using the 3DSwym platform to communicate with their customers?
. . . The different customer (customer A and B) will never want to be at the same community (proprietary file, patent, nda agreement issue, etc) Good point, I never thought of that. Yeah, you would need a separate private community for every customer; not practical. But I suppose it could be done w...

Have any SolidWorks VARS started using the 3DSwym platform to communicate with their customers?
Just curious. I'm on a student license - so don't deal with a VAR - and I was wondering if this was a thing. It would seem like a logical move for Dassault to make, bring all the VAR/customer interactions 'in-house' where they can keep an eye on them. Each VAR would have their own private community ...

Re: How to tell when SW...
... Typically what happens to me is that I let something run. For instance I ran a simulation over the weekend. I saved it before I ran it on Friday. So I come in this morning and it appeared to run without issue. I tried to save it and it just sat there. I left it there for ~20 minutes and it neve...

You know, I'd love to try it but they don't exactly make it is easy. A free license for subscription customers might help sell the idea and get some much needed feedback. Are they afraid to let us see for fear of calling their baby ugly? What 2d sketch issues do you see in desktop? Care to share a ...

XDesign - Has anyone tried it? (I haven't yet) Have they solved any fundamental bugs that still remain in SW Desktop.
When I say fundamental bugs I'm thinking mainly of 2D sketching issues, like incomplete/inaccurate trimming, for example.
Has anyone here tried to 'stress test' the 2D sketching abilities of XDesign? I'd be interested to know your findings.

Thanks ALL for your suggestions, and to matt L for his insights. @Zhen-Wei Tee - Do you know if those 'Solid Professor' course(s)/videos are downloadable? Recommend some online videos equivalent to the one shown
Hi As I've mentioned before, I'm a mature student somewhere between CSWA and CSWP level. Self-taught using materials found online. Anyway, a few days ago I stumbled across a video that was of real value to me because it was by an actual college lecturer/tutor from an English-speaking country. There ...

There's also 'SOLID EDGE 2D DRAFTING' if you like things being parametric with constraints and such >> https://www.plm.automation.siemens.com/ ... ree-2d-cad

Thanks for the responses so far, the mature ones especially. Looks like I'm not the only one who's maybe being paranoid. So, just for the record, as a student (self-learning at home), I have received no correspondence whatsoever from DS or anyone else regarding this forum. So, again, thanks for the ...

Should someone on an Educational SolidWorks License (student OR teacher) feel nervous about using this forum?
Hi everyone, my first post :) I have previously been interacting with you guys on the old forum, for the last few months of its life. And I've been kind of apprehensive about participating openly in this new forum since I'm on an Educational License, as a mature-adult student. Why apprehensive?? Wel...
