Re: Sketch curve transition between two other curves
I figured as much.. The good is,, I learned a thing or two along the way. All good and better luck with this.

Re: Sketch curve transition between two other curves
The complex one (Wonky Donkey)) is done with a surface loft with 4 profiles ached .010". Probably could have placed them more more beneficially.

Re: Sketch curve transition between two other curves
You hoped for it you got it (whether you like it or not). I will try this on your more wonky part someday soon. As I said before your file is a future version for me so I traced it from a sketch picture. This one I did a bit different. Used a surface loft with .005" (don't know what your units ...

Re: Sketch curve transition between two other curves
Do you think there is any validity to the following? I majored in mathematics but that was a long, long, time ago so I didn't attempt any math on this. Your file is a future version for me so I took a pic of it then sketched over a sketch picture. I went with the face curves on a very shallow sweep....

Re: Modeling spiral-wound steel cylinder in Solidworks
Ok,, I managed to come up with something that looks more like your screenshot. Made a surface extrude of a circle and sliced it at an angle. then took the surface bodies and made lofted bends from that. then patterned the sheet metal loft.

Re: Modeling spiral-wound steel cylinder in Solidworks
We are going to give this a shot rodface .. It's kinda confusing and hard to grasp just exactly you want to do with this. Apparently you do not want (or can't do to manufacturing issues) make it in one piece. Do you want to make each revolve of the helix one piece? And if so you can't just make the ...

Re: ex-Subscription question
My story,,, I have 2020 and had been off subscription for a couple of years. I was at SP2 when I had a motherboard problem so I had to get a new desktop. I called my VAR and they sent me a link to 2020 SP5. I have been a happy camper since. I'm still off subscription.

Is tapping on the "Tab Key" when you get a reversed preview not an option for you?

Re: Bend angle problem
It just dawned on me,, Don't convert to sheet metal and use FeatureWorks, > Recognize features (Automatic or Interactive) > Sheet metal features and make sure you have Edge Flange selected (and or Sketched bend) then recognize. Now you can alter any bend to any angle you want. image.png image.png im...

Re: Bend angle problem
Orrrrr,,,, after you convert, do an unfold, cut out the bend, fill the bend area with a boss extrude, sketch bend, and fold. Now you can alter that angle to any angle. You probably would have to chop and add stuff in order to get the dims you want. image.png image.png image.png image.png image.png i...

Re: how to unfold this section?
Good question Jaylin Hochstetler ,,, I'm impressed with the Solid Edge sheet metal capabilities. Going to have to get a trial version and immerse myself into it. In SW I would make two 3d sketches and do a lofted bend. image.png image.png image.png I don't think either SE or SW gives you quite what ...

Re: Is there a way to show a sheet metal part's K factor on the .SLDDRW?
I suppose that you could add that in your "Custom Properties".. Something like this. I added the words "k-factor=" in and got the syntax from "Cut List Properties" cut and paste. image.png The value is the k-factor value from the "Sheet-Metal" dialog ,which of...

Re: How Do I Twist a Bus Bar in Sheetmetal?
I'm going to try this again.. Think I'm getting the hang of adding files.. I did this with Lofted-Bend.. Note the two 3D sketches. Your file is a future version for me but I was able to get the info I needed from a dumb solid.

You the man berg_lauritz ... Thanks for the acknowledgement. Unfortunately I am not able to check out exactly what you have done since your file is a future version for me, but I do have a good idea of what you did. Your file is a dumb solid for me. I can see you are pretty excited (does that little...

Re: Converting this part to Sheet Metal
I'm trying to figure out how to upload my file to this post... Guess I should save this as a draft prior to attempting that since I keep loosing what I typed.. Major frustration. As I mentioned in my file I started out with a solid loft, cut it, filleted the two edges on the planar section, offset s...

Re: Converting this part to Sheet Metal
I figured that might be an issue.. This thing is driving me crazy.. One thing I did discover is contrary to what I had mentioned earlier. So far I have only got this to work on a cylinder. If I taper (make a cone of it) it no longer works. I think there may be a way around this, there almost always ...

Re: Converting this part to Sheet Metal
Sounds like you have a good understanding of this Laukejas.. The second overlap idea is this. Two spirals (top and bottom). The spirals overlap by an amount something over what you need to cut the part with your puzzle cutter. I suspect when you do that you will have a bunch of bodies you will not n...

Re: Converting this part to Sheet Metal
image.png image.png image.png I did not use your file but I suppose you could do this with a lofted bend or a converted "Revolve-Thin" (like I did). This would give you two sheet metal bodies that would flatten individually, or you could unfold both of them and fill in the gap if you like...

Re: Sheet metal bends problems
The entire hopper can be done with one "Lofted Bend" and three edge flanges. It would be difficult to bend in one piece so you might want to cut out individual sections, 2 or more parts. Reduce welding... In my model I used Pablo's file only to get some dimension from. The loft sketches ar...

Re: Printing Alt Codes
I noticed the same thing with ALT+0141 that you are experiencing. You may want to try ALT+11036. Works well for me and prints nicely. You can also use the Character Map for a slightly different look using SEGOE UI EMOJI. I did enlarge the font size on the squares for a better look. Not sure how this...
