Re: Obligatory mouse thread
Unfortunately I've found the Elecom ball to be fairly high-friction as compared with my Logitech M570. Can't traverse my screens with a flick of the thumb. I like my Logitech M570, find it really comfortable, travel across three screens with the flick of a thumb. Yes, it would be nice if it had mor...

Re: Solid Edge nifty features
So this morning I was working on another migrated project that had originated in SWX and was now in SE. I had a "dumb solid" I was working with, essentially, as there were no dimensions, relationships, or anything. It was not an easy part either, as it was basically a scalloped cutting ed...

Re: Making the 3d mouse more useful
2000tl is too much for a mouse, would you give $2000 for a mouse that is small without buttons? The reason is not very important, but the dollar-Turkish lira exchange rate difference is huge. Again, thank you very much for your kind and kind thought. You can get the SpaceExplorer on ebay from time ...

Re: What can Solidworks do that Solid Edge can't?
The last time I worked on animations in SE was 2018 & it was a bit cumbersome, I don't think animations have improved since then (but happy to be corrected). Probably over 10 years since I worked on animations in SW, but they appear to have improved it, it appears to be more user friendly & ...

Re: Best Workflow in SolidEdge?
It's a tricky one alright, I like the approach of having synchronous parts driving a frame made in the frame design environment. Credit to Sean Cresswell for educating me on this one.

Re: Solid Edge gage tables for Sheet Metal
I'm not familiar with bend tables, but I'm fairly sure enabling the bend table disables the dropdown option. I found a post on the Solidworks forum years ago to give a good approximation for 90Degree sheet metal bends, use a k-factor of 0.273 & set the bend radius equal to the material thickness...

Re: What's New 2022
Coming from SW, I'm curious. Are these real, usable features? Or are they placeholders for features that might be useable in 2 or 3 years once they get done flushing out the functionality? As a former SW user I understand your skepticism. My experience of SE is they have a habit of under promising ...

Not sure what learning resources are available to you, I found John Devitry's courses on Udemy to be excellent.

Re: Solid Edge vs NX
The biggest thing missing from both solutions (as compared to SW) is online licensing. Having the ability to work efficiently from both home and the office all but requires two licenses. If you have an active licence (including node locked AFAIK), you can use a cloud-enabled Solid Edge licence. htt...

DRM for CAD
CADChain popped up on my LinkedIn feed & after a lot of head scratching, I think they are working on DRM for CAD data, sounds like an interesting project. Was going to post this in the "Future of CAD" thread, but thought it warranted its own thread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbgg...

Re: First SE post
We are actively checking out SE as an alternative to SWX. How was file migration for you guys? Tell me more, I'm listening..... :P I believe I moved from Solidworks 2017 to Solid Edge ST9. ST9 wasn't well received by the Solid Edge community, but I was really impressed with it, it felt like a step ...

Heard it loud and clear, it's an excellent program, thanks for highlighting it.
Solid Edge files:
.asm
.cfg
.par
.psm
.dft
Not technically Solid Edge, but good to have:
.zip
.jt
.ksp

Re: First SE post
Delighted to see you created a SE forum too Matt, your move to Solid Edge influenced me to give it serious consideration as an alternative to SW. A decision I'm very happy with, both on the performance of SE & when I look at the way DSS treat their customers. Best of luck with the forum, I'm sur...
