Re: Transition Catia to SW?
Apart from the big general question in the OP, I have a few specific questions about SW. I've tested the trial version in the SW page for a few minutes and I have a few questions straight away: -How powerful is solid works for surfacing work? -I also like to create every different feature in a sepa...

don't forget you can put fasteners (or any component) in folders in the assembly. So the tree shows 3 components.

Just is case someone else ever has this problem.
MLC figured it out. I was running with a time limit that was too short to get a first pass in. So the output was a blank file. When I switched to a number of passes there was a rendering in the output file.

That is how 3D printing works. It will be polygons no matter what you do. It doesn't matter what CAD software you use if it is a polygonised file format like STL or 3MF. It is a legacy of the beginning of the technology in the 80s. If you need a real circle not a polygon with 1000 faces you have to ...

Hang in there. A few months to a year in is too early talk about switching. Upgrading more often lets you purchase a much less expensive system. You can get a CPU that is one or two steps down from the fastest thing that was just released. Hiding planes or sketches can cause a change in the file that it will ask to save.
I think there a message just for this but if the file was created in an older version it will want to save it to the newer version when it is closed.
