Re: SpaceMouse + regular mouse shortcut customization tips?
. . . Mouse wheel down: S-key Didn't know you could do that - scroll down to activate something? Anyway. Definitely have a look at SolidWorks 'mouse gestures' and also, something I only found out later, you can create your own 'custom radial menus' with up to 8 segments each in the 3Dconnexion soft...

Re: SpaceMouse + regular mouse shortcut customization tips?
I have the SpaceMouse compact, and a much more regular mouse than yours, with no extra buttons. I struggled with similar issues and settled on assigning CTRL to the right button on the SpaceMouse. For a long time I had the S-Key assigned to the left SpaceMouse button, which worked well; but I now us...

And the fact that it now costs pretty much $0.00 to generate such material. Also, no programming, just ask it for what you want in plain English.

Maybe try shelling?
Make a copy of your part in exactly the same location. Hide the original. Shell the copy to the thickness of your coating then unhide the original and do a combine/subtract?

Works perfectly. Many Thanks.
So, with the hard-work now done, we can now just Assign this Macro to a Keyboard Shortcut and OP gets his dream-come-true.

Re: Is there a way to program a dimension radius / diameter toggle shortcut?
I need to get up-to-speed on macro creation. I had a go at recording that sequence of events - turning diameter into radius - using the basic built-in macro recorder. Long-story-short, I'm pretty sure the recorder doesn't recognize/record those particular actions. Might be possible if you learn som...

Re: Making the 3d mouse more useful
Cool. That might have been how I did it originally. That method seems to create the macro for you automatically, but it is still a macro, just auto-generated.Jaylin Hochstetler wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 7:36 am You don't have to make a macro you can simply type the shortcut in the box.

Re: 3dconnexion Spacemouse (Pro vs Compact)
Honestly, I cannot stand the compact version. One of my co-workers had one and never used it. So I tried it out. Without the wrist rest (say that 3 times fast!), I just can't use it. I use the space mouse pro and love it. I tried the little one as well, and it was never oriented properly in relatio...

How did you setup the left button for the S key shortcut? Screenshot 2021-08-02 210848.png Had to go back and check. Had forgotten, it was so long ago [see screenshot attached]. First thing is to make sure you have a SolidWorks 'Part' file open, then it was just recording a macro (yes, you can do t...

Re: 3dconnexion Spacemouse (Pro vs Compact)
Whichever one you get, I would advise against getting a wireless one. Think about what might happen if you had to use someone elses solidworks setup in an office somewhere, and it was a big desktop workstation without bluetooth. Once you get used to using one you'll never want to work without it.

Re: Making the 3d mouse more useful
I have the 2-button wired compact version. Probably not as stable-on-the-table as the more expensive version, but I solved that (and saved myself €100) by sticking it down with a few balls of blu-tack. My 2 buttons are assigned as LEFT = S Key Shortcut Menu . . . and RIGHT = CTRL KEY. This, combined...

I do add certain features to the right click menu in the top box. A few years ago they brought that option in. Maybe that could help on a few of the features you want? Re: What would it take to get you off of 2d?
There's not a whole lot of 2D drawing of parts in a auto assembly plant....because they don't make any parts. About the only thing made in auto plants these days are the large sheet metal pieces. I haven't been directly involved in the Automotive industry for at least five years now, but five years...

Re: What would it take to get you off of 2d?
Worth a mention - there's probably very few 2D drawings fluttering around in a modern car assembly plant, with most of them being almost totally automated. So maybe, I dunno, get rid of all the humans? Then, once that's done, throw out all the printers/photocopiers?

Re: What would it take to get you off of 2d?
Intellectual Property Protection probably plays a part too. 2D drawings are useful in that way, because each worker can be given only the information they need to do their job. Of course the same thing could be achieved by making defeatured 3D models specific to each process. It's a bit of an outda...
