Re: FYI - 2024 SP04 is now available for download

For those with hole wizard features and the unabsorbed position sketch there is now a hot fix available to download. Also it has been fixed in 2024 SP5 that is available however if you have any holes created in 2024 SP4 hole wizard that already have the sketch unabsorbed, editing the hole wizard fea...

Re: Solidworks is out of Memory.!!

Seems like most of the time this is not due to system memory but because of what's called GDI objects. We used to have to change the number of GDI objects in the registry but people say that it doesn't work with Windows 10. One of the things that used to peg out this amount was having a 3D mouse. Re: transitioning from a straight line to a fillet to a straight line

The tangency relations are supposed to add themselves automatically. Not the case on your end..? It seems that the first transition from the line to an arc will get the tangency relation added but the transition from the arc to the 2nd line will not add the tangency relation unless you position the...

Re: Advice for reporting issues with Vars

The one reason that the VAR is asking so many questions about systems is every one is set up different and has different hardware components that they will need to try to duplicate especially on random crashing. That would be like doing a test drive for buying a porsche in a yugo and saying it's not...

I tried the new sketcher and see the value, but I'm still mostly using NX1872 because I prefer to use the Direct Sketch environment, which got dumped before the new sketcher got introduced. If they would bring Direct Sketch back, I'd upgrade to latest version immediately. You can toggle OFF the new...

So the drill depth will be different for all sized drill and tip angle.
In 2023 they added an option within the hole wizard to go to either the drill point end or the transition point like it always has done.

Re: New NX sketcher

I feel that the new sketcher environment is actually harder to use. Trying to make changes to a sketch after it's done seems to be twice as hard to figure out what relations/constraints are and how to change them. I've disabled the new sketch environment and use the legacy one as I'm faster with it.

We design gages and fixtures for the manufacturing of turbine blades. One of the challenges of designing these is finding the optimal place and orientation to clamp and hold the parts to keep them from moving off of their datum features. The parts are usually located in what is termed a 6 point nest...

You may have to open each of the part models that it created in the assembly and then choose the disconnect from original file. Do you have the option for your customer to export it out as a parasolids perhaps. Another option may be to have your customer change the exort options if possible to flatt...

Newer version SW use newer version Parasolid which older version SW cannot open. The best thing I've found is to set the default parasolids export to an older version than what may be used. We used Mastercam for the longest time and the parasolids kernel was always 2 or 3 versions behind Solidworks...
