Just got a choice -
Shop Production or one month Severance Pay, took the severance pay, today is my last day - no more SolidWorks - kinda sad in a way, but I'll be moving on.
Some of you guys got my number, stay in touch, otherwise, good chance it's no more SW Forum, been a long run, but SWYM is not the best or sharpest knife in the closet.
That's too bad. Not sure why a company would even attempt to do something like this in this market. It's near impossible to hire someone that will show up regularly. Someone with any level of dependency and skills is gold in this market.
Around here people are giving sign on bonuses to get Fry cooks and deliver drivers...well not quite that bad, but pretty close. I've seen manufacturing places offering sign on bonuses for line workers.
John I saw this correspondence today, I hope you see my answer. You may not have SW in your life anymore, you may leave, but you cannot leave us. (you don't need to leave)
Your decision to grow your own business is very good, I hope you can achieve what you have planned. God help you man.
If you ever want to become a sponsor company and employ immigrants, don't forget me.

August 3rd, Happy #NationalGrabSomeNutsDay everybody (in USA but why not everywhere also) !
While I find its name puerile, this tidbit also caught my attention:
Although the origin of National Grab Some Nuts Day is unknown, we do know that when this day first started being observed there was some confusion to its purpose. Some were celebrating the nuts we eat, whereas others thought it was all about the metal nuts that go with bolts.

Uuummmm, maybe it is referring to this.

Good morning yall, hope everyone's having a good one! Weather's hot this week in Canada, the hottest it's been all summer.
I'm sorry to hear that. It's been wetter and cooler than usual here. I don't think it's even hit 100° yet, and we've had some days where it barely reached 90°.

Maybe I'm from way upstate NY so I have a different perspective on things. It's called "hot" when it gets above 80F. It's called "cold" when it gets below 0F. I'm in Virginia now, and this week will all be above 90F. And our air conditioner has been out for a week. And it hasn't rained in a month. So If I seem a little more miserable than usual, it's because I am.

It's definitely a matter of perspective. As far as it being hot when it gets above 80°, that's the case here also, but that's for the 24 hour low, not the afternoon high. I said above that it's been a cooler than usual summer. Part of that is also that it's been getting below 80° almost every night. That's certainly not the case most years.
The humidity has also been unusually low; often down around 65% (80%+ is common).

The plan is to eventually upgrade our server, but we're going to need some money to do that.
Hey Matt,.. what is our goal?... and where do I/we add my donations/contributions?

The goal is $150/yr to upgrade. That would come due in 3 year chunks, but we can coast for a while on the current setup. My current site covers what the forum needs for now, but the traffic is growing and there are some cracks around the edges at peak times.
Donations can come thru a link at the top, in different places depending on the theme you use. We have had several generous donors, and we're over $200 in donations so far.
Thanks again to all who have contributed, either thru contributing time and knowledge in your posts or financially. Or both.

Ooooh, we need an emoji for sucking in air between the clenched teeth of a forced smile... What can I do other than laugh a little? Some of you guys might have known me 10-15 years ago, and I was that guy that posted stuff like that. Age does mellow people, and sometimes when I walk past a mirror and see a reflection of me at that time, it's possible that I might wince just a little. Love your enthusiasm, though!

It had disappeared for some reason yesterday. When Paul asked, I wasn't able to find it either and it came back a few hours later.

I did look briefly at the headings (but I've been awol for a while).. and yeah, why I asked but then a pole dancing memory,.. or maybe standing in a catholic church handing out donations came to mind..... and I thought,.. WTH,... this is better than any damn church ( )!

For some reason, I tend to think your donation gave weight to this forum and maybe made Dassault a little more conciderate. I don't think it's a coincidence that things start moving on their end less then 24 hours after Matt announced that the donation goal had been reached.
