Yeah, its awful. DS even has a bad login system, with 3DS and SW account not being integrated, I had some frustration with it already.Zhen-Wei Tee wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 5:38 am Bummer

Went to the SYMP today (again) to get some info on some old forum thread...
Look what i found, tons of IDEA!
Half of them does not even relate to the purpose of IDEA (which is used as suggestion for the SWYMP...) Have fun cleaning up i guess?
This is why i was against the whole idea funnel stuff in the first place, urgh

It seems to be the trend that people are asking a question as a post and then marking it "New Idea" as a bump or something, I don't know.Zhen-Wei Tee wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 7:15 pm Went to the SYMP today (again) to get some info on some old forum thread...

Did you know that conversations get deleted after some time?
Like... WTF?
Collaborate with others & after half a year you have no documentation anymore. GREAT!
Seems like a good idea to do business on this platform.
I guess this works perfectly if you want to sell some shady stuff.

Not sure that is true either. There's no confirmation that they are actually selling subscriptions to THE PLATFORM EXPERIENCE, which is "some shady stuff" in and of itself.berg_lauritz wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 8:58 am Did you know that conversations get deleted after some time?

Re: Does anyone actually use 3DExperience? Still waiting.......
Found the answer: you can manually keep conversations (only takes you 4 clicks, because it's a hidden setting within the conversation...). But you cannot do this for all conversations at once!
It gets worse every time I'm over there.
This is good stuff for *butt-sphincter* design over at reddit. We can make like a comic strip out of it!

I like it!
It seems like this is the experience we have when looking for things there:
I can't imagine what people that have actually have moved their business over there are going through.
Re: Does anyone actually use 3DExperience? Still waiting.......
I think most people end up stuck with the system that was chosen by their company. We aren't migrating a bunch of people, most of whom have zero desire to learn anything new, to a new platform. On top of that the legacy data transition is nightmar'ish. We are still dealing with products from our switch from Autocad and IV to SW which happened 12 years ago.mike miller wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 9:40 am I think it's a combination of masochism and the ubiquitous attraction of human eyes to train wrecks.

Denial maybe.....I quit that place a while back when it was evident that any meaningful change would not happen quickly. I'll revisit it once a year maybe to see what changes but I'm not holding my breath. I think Dassault got what they wanted, their control of the "community" narrative. They can act like its an open and transparent discussion group while knowing that any "critical" posts will get lost in the clutter never to be seen again.

I've dealt with our users finding every way to do stuff wrong in Solidworks and PDM for the past two years. I find it slightly therapeutic to go to the SWYMp and bumble@#$% around, leaving the occasional post without a care if it's in the right place or has the proper tags or is a question or an idea. Nothing matters there because it's all fleeting thoughts, here today, gone tomorrow; it really frees the spirit.

Re: Does anyone actually use 3DExperience? Still waiting.......
We are growing, and so we need PDM. Despite my grudge against the company, that means I need to get back under contract. I have switched to Tri-Mech, so at least the VAR interactions should be improved. It was fun having the introductory phone call with the account rep. I told her how much I despised the company she represents, and their software. Her response was along the lines of "I completely understand, and you aren't the first customer to voice these frustrations."

exactly!
How about a shirt with some dialog of jumbled message text, but clear button with "OK" in it? All SW users are so trained to instinctively "just click ok" that you would have bruises.
