Organization of the CAD Forum

Unread post by matt »

The Board Index is the top level. From there you can see everything. You can click on the Board Index link at the top and the bottom of each page.

The top level board is broken up into several categories. At the time of this writing, the categories are:
- Welcome New Members
- Board Business
- CAD
- Downstream Applications
- Manufacturing
- Off Topic

Each category contains several forums. For example, the CAD category includes:
- CAD Agnostic
- SolidWorks
- Solid Edge
... and several others

These forums (or fora for you purists) may contain sub-forums and/or topics. The difference between a topic and a forum is that only admin can create forums. Users can create topics.

Underneath topics are posts. Replies to a post will carry the same subject line. Some themes/styles you can change the subject line of the topic in the middle of the thread, but not all styles allow this. Prosilver, Carbon, Chesterblue, Cleansilver and the Flat Style themes should allow you to do everything. The others may be missing certain aspects of the interface.

Collapsible categories exist for some styles/themes, but not all. For example, Prosilver style shown below has + and - signs at the far right of the category header that allow you to collapse the category for ease of browsing or if you aren't interested in any of those forums. The Supernova style does not have those symbols.

THANK YOU for having the link back at the bottom of the page (both return to topic AND return to index). I always hated scrolling back to the top. I don't know how to add the 'tanks' extension.
