They are too invested to go back now. It still is all in for them!bentlybobcat wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 8:48 am ...
And then to spend the kind of coin they are spending on the entire 3DExperience website, it's quite frustrating.
The beauty of the 3dExperience website is it's broken and they know it. My interaction to get my 3DExperience account unlocked highlighted the frustration that middle level folks at Dassault have as well.
I'm coming to a point where I'm going to have to make a decision as to whether or not I'm going to keep my subscription active.
Unless things get straightened out pretty quickly over in Dassault-ville, it's prolly not going to happen. I've owned a seat of SolidWorks since '95, so some 17 years I've paid my annual stipend. It's just I really get the feeling they don't care about individual users any longer....
The story of Ubers re-write from Objective C to Swift shows you that at one point you can not go back anymore.
I am just glad that SolidWorks Desktop still exists currently. But that safety net is becoming smaller & smaller.
Edit: Sorry for the hijacking of this topic.
Re: SW 2022 SP2 - First Thoughts
My second thought was to uninstall sp2 and go back to sp0.
I had serious problems with pack & go in sp2 concerning broken references. Back to sp0 and it seems I can use this feature again. Why should we pay this amount of money and still suffer?

Because somebody has to pay for the 3DXP platform. Those 500+ developers don't work for free.

I'll play. On second thought, I wish we would have forgotten about PDM and stayed with Solid Edge.Bradfordzzz wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 4:17 am Maybe we need a new thread called "Second Thoughts" ?

I can attest to the latter. I have no experience with the former.berg_lauritz wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 4:36 pm I agree. Implementing PDM properly is a hell of a job and if done poorly or not fully the costs outweigh the tiny benefits...

When I select a component from an assembly tree, there shall pop an origo for moving or rotating that component. I don't like it. Can I disable that somehow? Could not found a solution by myself.

Starting to see the "future version" error since we're still on 2021 and I'm not hot to upgrade. So.......I just open SWX 2022 files directly in SE. Works like a charm.

@Alin,
As you probably know, I was one of the people yelling loudest about the initial implementation of this "enhancement", but since they modified the behavior to build in the delay I've left that option turned on so I can use it occasionally. Before the delay I hated it with a purple passion.

The following SPR (SolidWorks Performance Report) status has changed to Implemented.SPerman wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 8:24 am There is one regression I found right away. (Search for SPR 1230978.)
In 2020 if you do a concentric mate, a 2nd set of breadcrumbs appears to allow you to flip the mate or lock the rotation. According to the SPR, that option disappears immediately after it appears. I know some people hated this feature, but I had become used to it and miss it, despite the extra clicks it requires at times.
(Kudos to the support tech at Trimech who actually did the work and attached my sn to the SPR. My previous VAR would have done less than the bare minimum.)

Lol, what will break in 2023 because they've 'fixed' this.SPerman wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 9:09 am The following SPR (SolidWorks Performance Report) status has changed to Implemented.

Does it mean we have to upgrade to 2023 to be able to use something that was OK and they broke it?SPerman wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 9:09 am The following SPR (SolidWorks Performance Report) status has changed to Implemented.

Why not a hot fix?
Sometimes I think Solidworks is adding these kind of problems intentionally. They're just trying to make us pay for the next version.

Re: SW 2022 SP2 - First Thoughts
@Tera Their SPR system only shows one version, so it could be fixed in 2022 sp4 or 5.
Some changes may require a change to the file structure meaning a backwards compatibility issue but this one appears to just be a UI change. Guess we'll see in a month or two.

I hope so. Because I really can not make my boss sign for upgrading to 2023 after the mess they've caused in 2022.

Re: SW 2022 SP2 - First Thoughts
Ask your VAR for an escalation to get a quick fix created for the company you work for. It might be a hassle, but once you get it, if it works as you require it to, then it'll be easier to make your boss accept upgrading to 2023 to avoid staying with the mess 2022 seems to be.
Re: SW 2022 SP2 - First Thoughts
I couldn't get a license for PDM and learned I had to go to the license manager and re-activate. Not a big deal, once I figured out that was the problem.bentlybobcat wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 9:05 am I was looking through the release notes for v2022 and this turd jumped out:
"Reactivating SOLIDWORKS Perpetual Licenses
Starting with SOLIDWORKS 2022, commercial and educational customers who have purchased perpetual licenses of SOLIDWORKS products will be required to reactivate their licenses once a year. The licenses never expire but need to be reactivated periodically regardless of whether or not customers remain on subscription. Term licenses and student licenses are not affected."
