Does a 32 inch monitor make sense for drawing?

Hello everybody,

I'm currently using two 27" monitors, but I'm thinking of replacing one with a 32" one. Currently, I sit at an average distance of 1 meter and 10 centimeters. I've never worked with a 32" monitor before, I can't imagine if I can get used to it or if it will be too big.
In summary, two 27" pieces? Or two again, but one is 27" and the other is 32".
I'm waiting for your recommendations.

I can't decide whether I should continue with two 27" ones or whether the 32" one will be too big or unusable.

The monitor will be 110cm away and I will adjust the vertical center of the monitor to eye level.
I'm just worried about it looking rough, my only concern is whether it's too big.

Cut a piece of card to the right size and put it where you'd want the monitor. I've done a similar thing when sizing up TVs for a room, helps me to visualise what the end result should be like. Might give you some insight.

To answer your question .. I like Dave's suggestion. Cut out some cart board and see what it will look like, but I think it would be fine to go to the 32"

Or get the 32 and flank it either side with the existing 27s.

My dad has a 32" and I find it big but I also like the display it gives. You need the 4K resolution though if I'm not mistaken and a lot of programs/websites have issues with it.

The truth is that a monitor needs to be purchased for the accounting department, but they do not want a 32" one. I turned this situation against me.
I made an offer to the accounting department, I said you buy the 32" and I will give you my 27" monitor, they accepted.
The monitor I use is new, it was purchased 2 months ago. Now, the purchasing department asks me for the brand and model to purchase a monitor. So I won't be able to use 3 screens. 27 and 32 will be side by side.

Size is one thing, resolution is another.
Is the 32" 4k?
Most program will go crazy moving on different monitor with different scaling.
You'll need to adjust to one monitor has bigger font then the other.
Also color, brightness could be off.

I was using miss match monitors for over 20 years.

When I work from home, I use laptop and 60" 4k TV. Setup is 60" on top of the laptop screen with scaling. CAD only on the 60".

Hey Omur, wait a bit if you can, Black Friday should be coming soon(Friday November 24th) with some decent rebates. Maybe you'll get a better price on that one, or a better monitor at the same price as that one.

Personally, I'd get (2) 32" 4K (or 2K) monitor's... you can find them for ~$250usd each. (~$500 for both total)
I share my 16" 4k laptop screen with this 4k LG 32UN500-W Monitor 32" UltraFine (3840 x 2160) Display, AMD FreeSync, DCI-P3 90% Color Gamut, HDR10, Built-in Speakers, 3-Side Virtually Borderless Design - Silver/White (it does not swivel but I rarely need that)
..but I only use the 2K setting on "both" .. the reason, SolidWorks sucks in performance using 4k.

I examined the monitor you mentioned, it is very nice. but its price in Turkey is high. They don't accept it. I'll probably wait for Black Friday and try my luck.

Try to click on a line or point on 4k.
They need to increase the "target" area.

I am using a 32" monitor at work and I like it a lot, much more that the two 22-inch displays I had before. The resolution is QHD 2560 x 1440, which is great for using the display close, about 20 inches from my eyes. It just about fills my area of vision and everything is easy to see at a 100% system scale. I find it easy to park programs at the sides of screen when I need to use two windows at one time, then switch to having Solidworks fill the screen when I want, which is most of the time.

Yeah, I'd pay an additional 20$ to get a Samsung monitor over a Dell one anyday. I despise Dell with a passion lol

We bought this monitor because there were no discounts I expected in November. I liked the monitor and it is not a crude monitor as I thought. My eyes quickly got used to it. The only downside is that it has a bright monitor. I didn't pay any attention to this. If I had noticed, I would have definitely bought a matte monitor.

We switched to 40" monitors about 3 years ago, I'm currently using 1x40", 24" in portrait and 24" touch screen.
When we (Solidworks guys) got the 40" some people thought they would be too big but now 95% of all mech/elect/software engineers here have 40" or 42" (some have 2!).

You guys working with larger monitors, anyone getting more frequent headaches from the higher exposure to blue light? I was wondering because I'd like to give it a try eventually and I'm a little sensible to blue light.

Can't tell. It doesn't bother me.
Most can set to "warm white". Don't know if that will help.

Yes, I use dark themes on most softwares and interfaces, these were a blessing to me.
