STEEL GAUGE
STEEL GAUGE
I would like to have an annotation read the gauge of the sheet metal part its attached to.
Anyone know the property for that?

Re: STEEL GAUGE
Is the gauge of the sheet metal a property inside the part?

Re: STEEL GAUGE
You could link the annotation to the custom property and create a "favorite" of it or save it externally to use it in other drawings. You might have to tweak a few things but you should get the hang of it.

For instance, we call out config names to show the different configuration used

Re: STEEL GAUGE
I was hoping there was something like $PRP:"SW-Sheet Metal Parameter"

Re: STEEL GAUGE
Hrm I doubt you'll have a SW generated property for gauges, maybe I am mistaken though. On our end we don't use gauges because we require decimals to be sent to our ERP so we write the decimals and add the gauge as an annotation.
Re: STEEL GAUGE
I use this on the sheet metal drawings "Thickness@Sheet-Metal" mm Sheet.
Ideas are simple, once you've thought of them

Re: STEEL GAUGE
If you use Gage tables, can you pull that info from the table? (not sure how this would work, but trying to spitball ideas)

Re: STEEL GAUGE
I don't think so. Our tables have gauges but the gauges are in decimals (imperial in our case). The information contained within the table cannot be accessed anywhere else but from within the command as far as I'm aware and even then they are only "displayed"DanPihlaja wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 11:36 am If you use Gage tables, can you pull that info from the table? So for instance, our 11Ga is 0.1196" in thickness.
Re: STEEL GAUGE
Yes, that was what I was hoping but @AlexLachance is correct, can't get there from here.AlexLachance wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 11:44 am I don't think so. Re: STEEL GAUGE
That reminds me how much I loved when we had a distinction inside the company between 3mm, 11ga, and 1/8 in steel sheets. Thankfully we're far away from that nonsense lol
Re: STEEL GAUGE
Could you write a macro to read that information and apply it to the drawing?
