Re: Solid Edge X
Think their marketing might pull a Tesla, and a future iteration will be SE-XY?
Pricing seems a bit steep, especially as this is a named user license. Looks similar to 3dx SolidWorks though, basically desktop software with a cloud based PLM (Teamcenter in this case).

Somebody is going to get screwed.

I'm not sold that Siemens is using Teamcenter for these X products. This just might be an extension of the Simcenter Web Apps that are being used to look like Teamcenter. If Teamcenter is part of the X products then how would 2 or 3 subscription users "share" their data and workflows? In this case, you would need a full-blown Teamcenter installed and configured in the cloud. That would not be part of the subscription for X products. If I am wrong here please let me know. This is how I understand these products work.
Re: Solid Edge X
My concept was that Siemens Marketing would have used SE XE for Xcellerator Enterprise! LOLjcapriotti wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 9:06 am Think their marketing might pull a Tesla, and a future iteration will be SE-XY?
Re: Solid Edge X
Gang-
I was looking at how Solid Edge and NX are now very closely matched. Integration of the PMI functionality and the sketches makes for interesting steps. Do you feel this is another step for Siemens in unifying their CAD products- Similar to the I-DEAS and UG "merger" to create NX. And as a disclaimer- I work for Dassault Systems. But I am asking for my own personal interest because of the nearly 30+ years of working with Siemens products and company.

I don't think so.Ryan-3DS wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 10:58 am Gang-

They realized that all their users lives on the same planet and there may be some interactions that might occur between SE and NX users. Why not facilitate these when it's made under one roof?
DS is trying very hard to keep CATIA and SW as separate as they can (very difficult to reliably exchange data, not much skills transferable) while kind of merging them in some ways in the background. All for the benefit of DS while the users are left without consideration.
Re: Solid Edge X
I feel that, long term, Siemens will be moving, similar to what Autodesk is starting to do, to a full token-based system. The current software capabilities will all be a smaller chunk of functional software and you will only pay for using the chunk of software when you need it. In that case, you need to have a singular software product to do that.mgibeault wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 12:47 pm DS is trying very hard to keep CATIA and SW as separate as they can (very difficult to reliably exchange data, not much skills transferable) while kind of merging them in some ways in the background. CATIA and SW are based on separate modeling kernels, design "processes" and architecture (file-based vs data-based). I feel DS is trying to make things as seamless as possible between products. Providing a common dataset aids in many other business process benefits. That's where the 3DEXP platform comes in. Just like PLM and PDM. The business benefits are all downstream users and processes. Not the people doing the initial author of the managed data.
Just my personal opinion here.
