2024 SP05 is now available for download

Just noticed SW24 SP05 is downloadable. Who has tried already?
They have addressed 23 SPR's for this SP.

Will most likely give it a shot within the next 2 weeks to test-run it on our side and see if we're sticking to 2023 or moving to 2024.

Thanks, I installed 2024 and got everything setup for user installs in November. I am not using it yet for work, so I don't know any issues there, but the setup went fine.

I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, but it’s good to hear they’ve fixed so many issues.

There was a nasty bug a last or so SP ago that kept resetting the cursor to the beginning of the property field when adding a dimension or function in custom properties... That has been fixed and well worth the update because we do this often!

This will also most probably be the last SP for 2024 unless there's any new problems introduced in this one

Haven’t had a chance to dive in yet, but fixing 23 SPRs sounds promising.

**This was driving me insane for ages. I can't believe such simple functions break that aren't even changed directly so much. Its the biggest pain in the proverbial that is probably SW's biggest continuous frustration (little things breaking or doing weird sh*t for no reason). I had to go test this to make sure it was fixed and...

It's broken in other ways...

Open Properties and select a property to add information.
Type something and go to model and click feature to bring up dimensions and click a dim to add it to the properties...
as soon as i move the cursor it deactivates the Properties Dialog and one can't simply start typing and it takes a painful amount of clicking to get the cursor to behave and select the location to continue typing.

What a damn pain in the @$$. WTF. Is my install hosed? (will test it on another install later but its a pretty clean system so i doubt it).

I can click multiple DIMs to add more then one even though the Properties Dialog deactivates... but doing anything else is broken (and painful) AF**. I used to be able to Instert a DIM by clicking it, hover the mouse over the Properties dialog and continue typing, then click another DIM to add it and all was fine.

SP5 in assembly - Check previous version with any sub assembly suppressed crashes SolidWorks every time.

Don't know if this is SP5 specific but I can't remember it happening in SP3, maybe I didn't have sub assemblies ever suppressed when I used it in SP3. Not sure on that.

Also seems to do it when a part is suppressed in a assembly as well. Unsuppress part and it works again.

So is that what is going on! Every so often SW crashes while I am working with other programs & I could not figure out what was going on! I quite often have sub assemblies suppressed while working in my assemblies! grumph

Seems to be for me, every time I use the function -
Evaluate - Previous Release Check
It crashes in a assembly if anything is supressed.

Had a mail bad from my VAR after they logged this problem with Solidworks.

The fix is....................

Remove Solidworks 2024 SP5 and then load Solidworks 2024 SP4. Next load the hotfix for 2024 SP4 and then wait for the release of Solidworks 2025 SP1 which it is supposed to be fixed again on. <()>

Bit to unpack. There will never be a fix for it in Solidworks 2024 SP5. You have to go backwards to at least SP4 and load a hotfix for the function to work again. I think it worked in SP3. You could run the gauntlet and load Solidworks 2025 SP1 when it comes out.

Unacceptable. Ask for a HotFix for 2024 SP5.

Ask for an SPR number and post it here, I'll see if I can pull some strings or at least put my "user weight" on it.

And then you need to remember even if you go for the solution -

Removing the Hotfix
Before you install a different Service Pack of SOLIDWORKS Desktop 2024, or a future SOLIDWORKS Desktop release, you must remove the hotfix.

To remove the hotfix:

Open Windows Control Panel.
Select Programs > Programs and Features.
From the list of Programs, right-click SOLIDWORKS HotFix HF-1324907.
Select Uninstall/Change and follow the steps to remove SOLIDWORKS HotFix HF-1325807.

Sorry to bring up another issue, but I was told by my VAR that it was not needed to remove HF before instaling a new version of SW. Now I see that popping up here and there on the KB... We used admin image and a batch file to install HF and it would be a pain to customize our deployment environment each time to remove, or add and check every special fix.

So it is confirmed that the official stance is to remove HF before the uograde to a new version of SW?

I haven't gotten around to testing it as of yet, a few of the encountered issues that were mentionned left me with a bad taste in my mouth so I haven't been as excited to try it out. Maybe in my 2 weeks off during Christmas.

I've been using it for a few weeks. For me it's been no better or worse than other versions. I was happy with SW2024 sp 3, but updated to sp 5 when all of a sudden I couldn't edit sketch dimensions. Updating fixed that issue.

@AlexLachance If you are testing SolidWorks during your time off, you are doing your time off wrong. (says the person who kept checking her work email over the week of Thanksgiving when she was supposed to be on vacation)

And are any of you using SW2024 with PDM? Does that seem to behave? I don't have a test vault that I can try 2024 on.

Yeah I know, would rather do it during those 2 weeks then during weekends or not do it at all. But then again, that's a big maybe. I have a huge family on both sides so there's plenty of holiday parties to attend.
