What happened to the "likes"?
They're gone, @matt .
He that finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for [Christ's] sake will find it. Matt. 10:39
Re: What happened to the "likes"?
Yeah.
So's that list in the main index.
Replaced with Thanks, thumbs up.
Which do you like better? (I don't think there is any way to transfer the existing Hearts to Thumbs Up)

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
There's a Thumbs up now to "like" a post, but the unfortunate thing is that upon liking the post, rather then launching a javascript message to display this, it switches pages to tell you you liked the post and then brings you back.
IF this could be a javascript or pop-up, rather then a page change, that would be great. If not, doesn't matter much, it's still functional and takes you out and back rather quickly.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
I'd rather have the hearts. And my archived "brownie points".

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
Yeah, I should have a local installation for testing. It's not that hard to set up.
But...
I tried to run the Love and the Thanks at the same time. Didn't work, obviously.

Ok, but getting the hearts back means getting the list of most liked posts back in the index... Is that ok too?mike miller wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 1:53 pm I'd rather have the hearts. And my archived "brownie points".

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
I prefer the hearts. I browse the forum from the "unread posts" link, not the home page.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
I personally don't mind either to be honest. The index is a page I rarely user, except for specific needs, and the functionality is one I use mostly to let someone know either that I was appreciative of his help/response, that I was agreeing with the person or that I had a good laugh at whatever was inside the post(if that was the intent of course)
I browse from the "New posts" so that I can see all topics that have had new activity and that I can tell which one I've viewed also. I occasionaly use some of the other quick links for specific reasons.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
I also agree that the page change to tell me I just liked a post is a bit annoying.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
On a related note, it would be nice if pictures showed up as a popup, or in a new window.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
Pictures? What pictures? You mean in-line images? Like this???
You want these to show up in a popup? You don't want to see them in-line with the rest of the post?
Are you ok?

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
No. When I click on the image so that my tired old eyes can see what is in the photo.
For some reason I am used to hitting escape to get the picture to go away. Now I have to get used to hitting the back arrow.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
Oh, when you click on the image to see it full size, you'd prefer that to be a popup. Ok, I think I get it now. Sorry. I'll keep my eyes open for that setting if it exists.

Here you go Matt
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/lightbox/
Re: What happened to the "likes"?
Ok, best of all worlds
- I reinstated the heart (post love) extension
- imported thumbs up results to post love
- found the switches to turn off the box at the top of the index...
These developers all put settings in different places, and every time you add an extension you have to go on this easter egg hunt to find them.
Thanks for your patience.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
@SPerman and @AlexLachance I installed the lightbox, and set 800 pixels as the limit. For example, this one is native 1920x1160. You can click on it and press esc to get out.

Wow! That was quick, for both counts.
Now, I would mark @matt's answer correct.....but....I can't find the button!

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
Thanks Matt,
By the way, clicking on the black part of the screen, outside of the image, also makes it go away. I like that better than Escape.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
We are back to images appearing in the same window, but now they are just a tiny postage stamp in the middle of the screen. And they no longer appear inline.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
It works but any images previously posted don't work.
Previous images look like this then when i click on it, it does this but no pic shows up.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
I know that it's probably been discussed before and that I'm showing my ignorance but could somebody please explain the significance of the "Filled in heart" and the "Hollow heart"?
Also When I click on the icon sometimes it's filled in and sometimes it's hollow. Can that be controlled? Does it even need to be controlled?

The hearts are likes. If you like someone's post it will show hollow to indicate that and increment the like (hearts) counter for that post. If you click again you are taking your like away and then the heart is filled in again and the number of likes (hearts ) for that post is decremented. I think of it as empty heart (or just outline) == a checked checkbox, only prettier.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
The filled in heart means you haven't "liked" the post. When you click on it, it goes to outlined, indicating you've clicked it.Tony Tieuli wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 2:26 pm I know that it's probably been discussed before and that I'm showing my ignorance but could somebody please explain the significance of the "Filled in heart" and the "Hollow heart"?

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
Also @Tony Tieuli, if you hover over the number next to the heart you can see who has "liked" the post:
Re: What happened to the "likes"?
The filled in heart means somebody else liked it. The hollow heart means you liked it. You can unlike something you've liked if you want to.Tony Tieuli wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 2:26 pm I know that it's probably been discussed before and that I'm showing my ignorance but could somebody please explain the significance of the "Filled in heart" and the "Hollow heart"?

Was there a "feature upgrade", @matt ? I get this error when trying to like a post.

Re: What happened to the "likes"?
I didn't do anything to the likes. Maybe the server is finally getting overloaded...
Can you guys let me know which forums you're having trouble with. Maybe go through a bunch of forums and like stuff. There are some permissions which are a little testy, but the group you're in shouldn't have seen any changes at all.
I'd have to guess that it is some server issue and will come back for you at some random interval. There is nothing I've done to mess with the likes.

Have you tried clearing your cache? What about deleting the registry? At the very least you should update your video card drivers (but not to the latest. Make sure to use the specific driver recommended by phpBB)mike miller wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 12:19 pm I would have liked your post but I can't!
