No offense intended to the artists, but I much prefer The Band's version. Of course it's true for me in most cases; I tend to prefer the version of a song I'm most familiar with.

Thanks for posting that. She's on the list of my top five favorite female singers (along with Bonnie Bishop, Etta James, Patsy Cline, and Allyson Krauss). I've of course heard her sing that song before, but not that version.

I don't think she ever recorded a song I didn't like, but this is my favorite. Bonnie Bishop recorded it also. No disrespect for her, but I like Ms. Raitt's better.
