Structure system strangeness

Unread post by Monstrum Mathias »

I've noticed a weird behavior in structure system when changing directions of beams. I adjust the angle of the sketch line used to create the beam but the profile sketch that is extruded along this line keeps the initial orientation. There is no way to access this sketch or the sketch plane to fix the issue and as a result, none of these beams measure correctly. I can't imagine a scenario where you would want the profile sketch not to be 90deg to the extrusion direction. Only fix I can see is to delete the whole structure system and do a new one. Is this an issue anyone else have noticed? Does this mean structure system is not to be trusted?

Which version of SolidWorks are you on? I just tried in 2024sp5 and it works as expected when I rotate the profiles 180°. However it appears that 2024 updated corner treatments so maybe they fixed it in the process.

I'm on 2024 version sp5, but the rotation I'm referring to is not the rotation of the profile sketch, which is available in the menu, but the angle of the profile sketch plane in relation to the initial sketch. When I change the position of the beams I'm modeling, it seems this plane keeps it's orientation instead of staying 90 deg to the sketched line that defines the beam. Neither the plane nor the sketch is available/editable but only visible when editing the specific member. Hope this makes sense, it's kind of hard to describe
