SolidWorks PDM Pro Sync Local Valut View between Computers with Dropbox

Unread post by jcoeng »

Is it possible to sync local vault views between two computers using dropbox, hence keeping the vault view in dropbox?

When using Workgroup I kept my working folder on dropbox and it made it very fast and easy to switch between computers when running out the door. Just make sure everything is saved and deactivate the license on my desktop then I'd be ready to go on my laptop. A recent convert to SWPDM Pro I've been told this is no longer possible and in order to work on two computers I would need to check in all files to the vault before each switch. Is there any workaround to that process?

Also looking for best practice recommendations for working offline and also keeping a tidy vault and local cache under control if anyone has tips.

Thanks!

I do not know how standard is supposed to work, but professional pdm server keeps track of pdm user and which host it was used to check the files out. What you were doing is not a normal use case for PDM.

A few questions

What is the point of cloning a vault view on another PC?

Maybe do You want to work offline on a pc not connected to PDM and not connected to your company servers?
