Working with SW and SW Browser Apps

Unread post by dave.laban »

So someone at DS just shared some posts giving some basic outlines on how to work with both SW and some of the SW web apps. Is it me or does even this simplified ideal-use-case primer still just look like pain?

Any updates in xDesign result in all new Face IDs so any mates will fail even if the changed geometry is elsewhere. It explicitly recommends only using reference geometry for mates for WIP parts. Where is the benefit meant to be here??

Wow! Just Wow! So if I understand that post correctly the only thing that was changed was a dimension & it lost the concentric mate! <()>

I think maybe that it doesn't matter what was changed. It's the import step that assigns Solidworks geometryIDs. We've seen this with other imports, every new import creates what seem to be random geometry IDs, even if reimporting from the exact same file. The goal of this type of post is to get desktop SW users to dabble in the 3DX so they can see how wonderful it is; while leaving then interconnect with desktop apps clunky enough that users will eventually not bother using them.
