Knowledge Gap - 2D Spiral in Solidworks

I have probably stumbled into a gap in my knowledge of Solidworks. I know how to define a helix and its limitations. I also did some googling and saw how to generate my own 3D helical sweep path from the intersection of two surfaces.

But, what I need today is a 2D spiral. I'm experimenting on ways to improve the display of texture based wire mesh (using a SW texture, not modelling it). I have a 6" OD x 4" thk mass of wire mesh and I can model the whole outer surfaces and get a decent transparent texture out of it. But, I'm seeing if I can improve the representation. That's just some background.

Anyway, I would like to have a 2D swept spiral with a rectangular cross section. I'm failing to wrap my mind around how to go about doing that. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Same tool as the Helix to create the sweep path. Just use the Spiral option.

Thanks Alin, I was hoping it was something simple I was missing.
I had it in my head that the helix swept a solid because I had been working with helix surfacing tool. Just a brain gaffe.
