Re: Solid Edge 2024 Community edition is now available
Just installed it yesterday. Haven't had much of a chance to see what is new. I am really only interested in the modelling side as opposed to data sharing/management. Do you have and favourites on this release? Wonder if Matt will do any videos on new features?

Re: Unselect Parts to Mirror
I found a way. Under edit Mirror, Mirror Settings Step. Right on the component and select Exclude. I would be more intuitive to be able to graphically unselect the components.

Re: Extent Error
The steps are.
1) select extrude.
2)Select on Add/Cut. I picked Add.
3) On the Sketch step in the dropdown box pick Select from Sketch .
select the sketch regions click on the green tick
4) on Extent step I picked mid plane 5) Finish.
Hope this helps.

Re: Oops! It looks like there is an error with our server
It is working again. I had borrowed a work laptop last weekend and installed SE on on it too, in order to demonstrate a model to a few people. I uninstalled that this afternoon and mow SE help in working again from my home pc.

Oops! It looks like there is an error with our server
for the past week I cant access the SE online help. I don't know why. I just get "Oops! It looks like there is an error with our server". Anyone else seeing this problem? Using 2023 Community Edition. This is the URL giving the problem https://docs.sw.siemens.com/en-US/doc/246738425/PL2021...

Could you post the part file or a step file of the part or a screen shot of what you are trying to do. I am learning the community edition too.

Re: Part Bodies hiding in an assembly
I partially found the cause of the problem. The curved strip is imported as a sheet metal part. Yet SE can't convert it to sheet metal apparently because there are no straight edges. The mass properties are 0. It should weigh about 12-20 grams. Do SE it sort of treating it as surfaces. In the assemb...

Part Bodies hiding in an assembly
I have 3 components of the same type that have mysteriously become hidden in an assembly. They are the curved strips in the screenshot. I can't make them show. it happened after I mirrored them. Hav since deleted the mirror. The only way I can get them to temporarily show up is to is to select in th...

I need to make the 57.5 deg faces coincident with a cylinder axis. So I can get in a pattern of 6 cuts.

Re: Import SW file as sheet metal
I had tried that before I watched the video but nothing happened. That makes it simple. Do you know how to setup a sheet metal bend table? Or where I look for one I can modify? I have a range of thicknesses in SWG terms 34, 27, 26, 24, 23, 22, 21,and 18. In general I would use R = t. Now experimenti...

Import SW file as sheet metal
I imported many SW (2021) files as sheet metal. Saved them as .psm. However I cannot figure out how to make the part behave as sheet metal. I can create a flat pattern and alter it's thickness but that does not reflect in the folded model. Short of dimensioning all flanges individually, which would ...

Re: Questions on mates
He did post it in the SE forum though. While the Angle relationship can be used and set to 90 that would not be my goto method of placing components. The angle relationship can be a bastard in my experience. When and why is a longer story. Just thinking about design intent, it's not too often that ...

Questions on mates
Is there a perpendicular mate? How would you do the equivalent of a SW slot mate? How do or can I access individual part Base Reference Planes (from the feature tree)? I have imported the parts from SW. They are all Meccano parts, so loads of slotted holes. I haven't re-added dimensions to most of t...

Remove Document Number/Revision Number:-Title
image.png I installed Community edition 2023 recently and imported about 60 parts from SW. The data manager was active. Converting imported SW files
Years ago I modelled many Meccano parts in SW. Well these are ideal for learning more about SE's abilities. I have attached two parts. On part "62 Crank", how do I add a 5/32" cosmetic thread to to cross hole in the boss. How do I dimension to the centre of the slot to maintain the 1/...

Re: Assembly Join Parts
That sounds like a lot of work. Why not simply use a representation of the assembly (maybe another configuration or derived assembly) for the machining drawings? I am not sure if this is what you meant. An assembly can be inserted into a new part using part copy in ordered mode. found the answer he...

Assembly Join Parts
Below is the process I would like to replicate/find an equivalent way to achieve in SE In SW many of my assemblies are welded fabrications. My approach has been 1) A separate model and drawing for each component. The components are a mixture of sheet metal and machined blocks basically. 2) Assemble ...

Hello, Just joined. I have used SW since 1996. Currently on SW 2021 and we use Design Data Manager from CSI for our cad document control. I joined here because have been reading Matt's blog for years and now have just installed SE 2022 community edition. No doubt I shall be asking, "How do I do...
